Allow Gen Moses Ali to Retire: Ugandans Tell Museveni after Disturbing Video of Deputy PM Struggling With Strange Disease Goes Viral

A section of Ugandans have told President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to allow his second Deputy Prime Minister Gen (Rtd) Moses Ali to retire from cabinet and active politics after a disturbing video showing the politician and military officer struggling in his chair went viral.

Moses Ali is aged 84. He is just five years older than his boss Museveni – who is 79.

In an interview a decade ago, Museveni agreed that retirement age for politicians like him and Moses Ali should be 75 years.

But years later he pushed for the amendment of the constitution to remove the age limit clause, meaning he can run for president for as long as he is breathing.

Now, he is facing calls to retire his second deputy prime minister after, for a second time he appeared struggling to sit in a chair at an event.

Moses Ali, who won the  Adjumani West parliamentary seat in 2021, has been battling a strange disease.

When a video of him struggling in a chair at an event appeared online, netizens called on Museveni to allow the old retired general to get out of the public so that he can get treatment and recover. Here are some of the reactions:

I have watched a disturbing video clip of Moses Ali and honestly it would be wise to keep him out of the public eye for now. He can barely sit on a chair, I don’t think he even knew where he was. The man needs to be retired so that he can go and attend to old age.Jeje Odea @joshjeje2

Please let Moses Ali rest, he already had enough he can’t even lift his tongue, lwakki tebalekka omusajja nawumula mirembe?Kirya Ug @kirya_ug

This is another embarrassing video of Moses Ali, why doesn’t this man retire ? Which agreement did he make with the government really? Aah.Pius Jadwar @One_PiusJadwar

This is not the first time, a video of Moses Ali is raising concerns on the health of the deputy prime minister. He was previously filmed struggling in his chair at a national event and also collapsed inside Uganda’s Parliament. (See Details Here and There)
