ASANTE SANA MAMA! Muhoozi Praises Samia Suluhu for Deporting Kenyan, Ugandan Activists

Uganda’s first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has saluted Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan for deporting Kenyan and Ugandan activists.

Activists, lawyers and politicians like former Kenyan justice Minister Martha Karua, Boniface Mwangi, former Kenyan chief justice Willy Mutunga, and Uganda’s Agather Atuhaire were either blocked from entering Tanzania or arrested and deported.

These had planned to stand in solidarity with Tanzanian opposition leader Tundu Lissu who faces treason charges. Lissu has demanded electoral reforms ahead of October’s general elections.

As the arrests and deportations happened, President Samia Suluhu warned activists from Uganda and Kenya against meddling in Tanzania’s affairs, making it clear she would not allow them to destabilize her country.

“If they have been contained in their country, let them not come here to meddle. Let’s not give them a chance. They have already created chaos in their own country,” Samia said during the launch of Tanzania’s new foreign policy in Dar es Salaam on Monday, May 19.

“We will not give a chance to anyone to come and destroy us.”

Samia Suluhu also she had given clear directives to security agencies and all authorities responsible to ensure that “those who have spoiled their countries to cross over to Tanzania” to “spread their indiscipline here.”

She also said she would continue protecting Tanzania even amidst the risk of being labelled a dictator.

“I have seen several clips saying I am biased, but what I am doing is protecting my country which is the key mandate I was given,” said Suluhu.

Muhoozi has praised Samia Suluhu for not tolerating what he called “nonsense.”

“Mama Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania, is fast becoming one of my favorite leaders in Africa,” wrote Muhoozi.

“No nonsense and extremely decisive! Asante sana Mama.”

It should be remembered that Samia Suluhu became president after the sudden death of President Pombe Magufuli. (See related reporting Here, There and Over There).

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Agather Atuhaire has been deported following her arrest in Tanzania. (See Details Here).
