Singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool has said that although singer and politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is his music rival, he does not and will never wish him death.
The rivalry between Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine spans decades.
In recent years, when Bobi Wine joined politics, the rivalry exacerbated.
While Bobi Wine is the leader of main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), Bebe Cool is a staunch supporter of President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni and his ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
Four years ago, Bebe Cool swore he will never forgive Bobi Wine – unless he publicly apologizes – for insulting his father, former Museveni minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, in his ‘Kataala’ song.
“That boy went ahead to sing about my father, wife and children in his songs and you people couldn’t condemn that. I told him to apologize! Not until then, I will never forgive him,” Bebe Cool was quoted as saying in a 2017 interview.
Now, in a recent interview with his music brand’s affiliated Gagamel TV, Bebe Cool admitted there were fights between him and Bobi Wine but these do not mean that he wants the NUP leader dead.
“I am fighting him professionally, but when he is at his weakest, I pick him up,” Bebe Cool said.
“On my side I have nothing to send him to the grave and it will never be there. So we have to learn that kind of behaviour and acceptance.”
