Uganda’s Electoral Commission (EC) has duly nominated singer-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine as a 2021 presidential candidate.
After his nomination, Bobi Wine addressed reporters, highlighting his plan and regurgitating his threats against the Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni admnistration.
Among other pledges, Bobi Wine promised to increase pay for the men and women in uniform — officers of the Ugandan army UPDF, Uganda Police Force (UPF) and Uganda Prisons Service (UPS).
Bobi promised the least paid of these officers would take home Shs1m monthly.
A political novice who enjoys considerable support among central Uganda urban youths, Bobi Wine is the fourth candidate to go through nomination.
November 03 is the second and final day of nominations.
On November 02, the Electoral Commission (EC) nominated three bush war era generals for the country’s top seat.
They were Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Maj Gen (Rtd) Gregg Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) and former security minister Lt Gen (Rtd) Henry Kakurugu Tumukunde.
Two other aspirants Nancy Kalembe and John Katumba missed on nomination because of failure to clear the Shs20m fee.
