Bobi Wine to be Guarded by SFC

First son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has issued orders for Bobi Wine to be guarded by SFC.

Gen Muhoozi says that Bobi Wine (real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu), the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate, and other presidential candidates for the 2026 polls will only be guarded by SFC.

SFC – or Special Forces Command – is a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) tasked with carrying out specialized missions or operations at a moment’s notice, according to its website.

The SFC while conducting its operations coordinates closely with the two main arms or services of the UPDF, that is, the Land Forces and the Air Forces, the Special Forces Command’s description further reads, adding that SFC units working alongside the regular UPDF are also active in theatres of operations, such as South-Sudan and the Peace Keeping Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

But the SFC is known for guarding members of the first family.

It is also notorious for special operations, especially against opposition politicians.

Now, Gen Muhoozi says Bobi Wine and other presidential candidates will only be guarded by the SFC.

Muhoozi also says that private security teams for candidates will be “smashed.”

“I have said it once and for all, ALL Presidential Candidates will be guarded ONLY by SFC!” noted Muhoozi.

“Any personal arrangements that do not concur with our standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be smashed immediately.”

He also clarified that parliamentary candidates will be guarded by police officers.
