Bobi Wine writes to Muhoozi over missing NUP supporters

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has petitioned Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen David Muhoozi over missing party supporters.

Bobi Wine recently punched holes into a list of missing persons internal affairs minister Gen Jeje Odongo presented before parliament.

On March 15, police arrested Bobi Wine for protesting against the detention of his supporters.

The state accuses scores of NUP members of planning November 18 and 19 protests and illegal possession of fire arms, among other offences.

After police blocked his protests, Bobi Wine chose to deliver a petition to CDF Muhoozi.

But police blocked him.

In the petition dated March 16, Bobi Wine told Muhoozi he believed his supporters were arrested by his military officers and could be detained at UPDF facilities across Buganda.

“The few individuals who have surfaced have confessed to having been held at Makindye, Mbuya, Kalangala, Nakasongola, Kyengera and Kasajjagirwa military facilities,” wrote Bobi Wine.

“Others have been held from unknown centres run by the military personnel whereas Gen Museveni in his recent address stated that some of our missing supporters are in the custody of the Special Forces Command.”

Bobi Wine also demanded “justice for those who have been tortured,” emphasizing that “the perpetrators must be brought to justice and the victims of torture must be compensated.”
