BREAKING: 10 Officers’ Houses Burnt to Ashes in Fire Outbreak at Katwe Police Barracks

A March 08 fire outbreak at Katwe Police Barracks has burnt 10 officer housing units, Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has confirmed. 

Owoyesigyire said neither human injuries nor deaths were recorded in incident.

“The Police at Katwe are currently investigating a fire outbreak that started today (08.03.2022) at about 4pm at Katwe Police Barracks. The fire has destroyed 10 officer housing units,” he said in a statement.

“The Police Fire Prevention and rescue services responded at the scene and the fire has been managed, no loss of life or injuries registered and much of the property was evacuated by officers . Investigations are on to establish the exact cause of the fire.”
