BREAKING: Busoga Kyabazinga ‘Reportedly’ Fired by Council of Chiefs; New King Named

Reports reaching us indicate that the Council of Obwa Kyabazinga bwa Busoga (Busoga Kingdom) has fired their king His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV.

In a public notice and declaration dated January 03, the Council declared Edward Columbus Wambuzi Muloki, the Zibondo of Bulamoji, as the new Kyabazinga.

The Council has since written to the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, informing him of the new change of leadership in the cultural institution.

Here is the full notice and declaration on the firing of the Kyabazinga:

THIS PUBLIC NOTICE AND DECLARATION is made this 3rd Day of January 2022 by the undersigned Hereditary Saza Chiefs Royal Council of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga.

WHEREAS the Chiefs Royal Council in accordance with Article 8 Clause 2 (f) of the Constitution of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga unanimously with a quorum of Eight (8) Hereditary Royal Saza Chiefs moved a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE in HRH Wiliam Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, thereby removing him as the Isebantu Kyabazinga of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga.

WHEREAS under Article 8 Clause 6 of the Constitution of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga, the chiefs royal council retains the running affairs of the Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga.

AWARE that it is in the best interest of the Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga to at all times have a reigning Isebantu Kyabazinga elected by the Chiefs Royal Counci in accordance with the Constitution of Obwa Kyebazinga wa Busoga from among the Eleven (11) Chiefdoms.

NOW THEREFORE the Chiefs Royal Council upon removal of HRH WILLIAM WILBERFORCE GABULA NADIOPE IV as sitting Issebantu Kyabazinga, unanimously reaffirm and declares HRH EDWARD COLUMBUS WAMBUZI MULOKI, The Zibondo of Bulamoji as the newly legitimately elected Issebantu Kyabazinga of Busoga as it were on 31st October 2008.
