Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson Dr Fred Tanga Odoi has confirmed the party MPs’ Caucus will meet at State House Entebbe for a meeting to choose a speaker candidate between Rebecca Kadaga and Jacob Oulanyah.
A Friday statement by Dr Tanga Odoi said the NRM parliamentary caucus will happen at State House Entebbe on May 23 at 11am.
The statement addresses Kadaga’s concern that NRM CEC shouldn’t be the one to decide on a candidate for the speaker race.
The election of speaker and Deputy speaker candidates will happen at 11am after NRM chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s address.
Dr Tanga Odoi will declare results from the vote at 2pm.
But an NRM CEC meeting is today expected to vet Kadaga and Oulanyah.
It remains to be seen if CEC will drop one of the candidates or recommend both to the caucus for a vote.
