Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) and Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) are mourning the death of their chairman Everest Kayondo who succumbed to Covid19.
Kayondo, who had been in hospital for days, passed on June 23.
Kayondo died Wednesday afternoon at Lifeline International in Zana where he had been admitted with Covid19 symptoms on Saturday.
He was also the Chairperson of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of St Henry’s College Kitovu.
Owner of Everbased Tours, Kayondo marketed Uganda as a tourist destination, and was instrumental in the ‘Save Murchison Falls’ campaign.
Uganda announced new 38 Covid19 deaths as the impoverished East Africa nation continues to battle an upsurge in cases and fatalities fuelled by new virus variants.
Cases have dropped to below 1,000 daily in the past two days, perhaps due to a total lockdown instituted June 18.
