First lady and education minister Janet Museveni.
Education and Sports, also first lady Janet Kataaha Museveni, has announced the halting of transfers for secondary school teachers pending resolution of a number of issues.
Through the Ministry’s spokesperson Dr Dennis Mugimba, Minister Ms Museveni noted that inconsistences and delays in transfers had promoted her to halt all transfers.
“The minister of education and sports received credible information that the way secondary schools teachers in government schools are transferred was having many gaps,” said Mugimba.
“She has instructed that as a ministry, we temporarily stop the transferring of secondary school teachers with immediate effect until an exercise which is going to be conducted by the Education Service Commission takes place.”
According to Dr Mugimba, the Ministry will embark on a validation and verification exercise across the country once schools reopen.
