Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) says Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and the National Covid19 Taskforce are stealing the party’s manifesto promises made it 2021.
FDC, led by presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat, had pledged Shs100,000 monthly for every family over a period of half a year.
But on June 20, PM Nabbanja announced government would send cash through mobile money to vulnerable poor Ugandans.
In the 2020 lockdown, government had provided food items, including maize flour and beans.
Uganda’s vulnerable poor to receive relief package through mobile money
FDC says the shift from relief food distribution to mobile money cash remittances was copied from the opposition party’s manifesto.
“In our manifesto we promised to remit at least UGX 100,000 monthly to every household for the first 6 months during lockdown,” said FDC after Nabbanja’s announcement.
“Good to see Nabbanja Robinah stealing FDC manifesto promises and hoping to implement them. As usual, FDC thinks and plans for the country, NRM misrules.”
