Katikkiro Mayiga Showers CJ Owiny-Dollo with Praises

Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister (Katikkiro) Charles Peter Mayiga has praised Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo for his courage and humility.
On March 31, CJ Owiny-Dollo visited Katikkiro Mayiga at Bulange, Mengo where he officially apologized to the kingdom and the kabaka for his controversial comments. (Read Story Here).

CJ Owiny-Dollo made the comments during a vigil at the home of late speaker Jacob Oulanyah in Muyenga. (Read Story Here).

NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, a Muganda by tribe, told Owiny-Dollo to stop diverting Ugandans from asking the real cause of Oulanyah’s death. (Read Story Here).

Later, Buganda Kingdom prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga responded to CJ Owiny-Dollo’s comments. (Read Story Here).

FORGIVE ME, YOUR MAJESTY: CJ Owiny-Dollo Apologizes to Kabaka, Baganda

After the meeting, Katikkiro Mayiga commended CJ Owiny-Dollo for the “humility he has exhibited,” emphasizing that the chief justice’s visit to Bulange was “an expression of humility which we appreciated very much.”
The Katikkiro also saluted the head of the country’s judiciary for his courage.
“I commend him for being courageous. For him to acknowledge something that didn’t go well with others requires a lot of courage.”
Emphasizing that Owiny-Dollo was now a brother, Mayiga emphasized the relationship between the Acholi and Bganda.
“In Buganda we say friendship follows a fight (Omukwano guva mu Ngabo). He came as a friend and he is going as a brother,” he noted.
“I urge all Ugandans to leave what was said behind us. The people of Buganda and those of Acholi have more in common than what divides. There is nothing more that needs being done. We just need go move forward. Deepen our friendship and unity amongst all of Ugandans.”
