Former police chief Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura has lost his mother Catherine Tibemanya Mukarwamo.
Mukarwamo succumbed to pneumonia in the western Uganda district of Kabarole on the morning of August 06. She was aged 92.
Mukarwamo looked after Kayihura after his father Johnson Komuluyange Kalekezi, aka John Kale, passed on when he (Kayihura) was just four years old.
Kale died a plane crash on August 17, 1960 in Kiev, Ukraine.
A tentative funeral program indicates Mukarwamo will be laid to rest on August 09.
Born in Kisoro, Mukarwamo was sister to former former judge Joseph Mulenga (RIP).
Ugandans have been sending condolences to Kayihura. These included main opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye, who suffered at the orders of Kayihura’s officers for years.
“Loss of a mum at any age is very painful. Condolences to Gen Kale Kaihura, family and friends,” wrote Besigye.
