LIST: See Names of Over 400 Ugandans Shortlisted for Teaching Jobs

Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has started administering oral interviews for over 400 applicants who have been shortlisted for teaching jobs in various education institutions across the country.

The shortlisted candidates applied for the teaching jobs when the ESC put out a call in advert 1/2024. The shortlisted candidates are doing their oral interviews on separate dates, running from September 30, 2024 and ending on October 17, 2024.

The venue for the interviews, which begin at 8AM every morning, is the Education Service Commission offices at Farmers House, First Floor, Parliament Avenue.

Those who will be deemed to be qualifying for the jobs will work with the Vocational Training Ins1itute (VTI), Uganda Technical College (UTC), Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), and the Technical Vocational Education and Training Operations and Management (TVET O&M).

The jobs at the Vocational Training Ins1itute (VTI) include: assistant instructor – agriculture, assistant instructor – plumbing assistant instructor – automotive assistant instructor – welding and fabrication assistant instructor – fashion and design assistant instructor, machine and fitting.

At the Uganda Technical College (UTC), the jobs are: lecturer – mechanical engineering lecturer – secretarial and information management lecturer, electrical engineering lecturer, refrigeration and air conditioning lecturer, architecture lecturer, ceramics lecturer, water engineering senior lecturer, civil engineering senior lecturer, mechanical engineering lecturer, civil engineering.

For the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), the jobs are: senior lecturer, down stream petroleum operations senior lecturer, occupational health safety senior lecturer, instrumentation maintenance lecturer, mechanical maintenance lecturer, petroleum engineering lecturer, electrical maintenance.

At the Technical Vocational Education and Training Operations and Management (TVET O&M), available jobs include: senior instructor, welding and metal fabrication senior instructor, machine and fitting senior instructor, plumbing senior lecturer, automotive mechanics senior instructor, building and construction senior instructor, agriculture senior instructor, electrical engineering senior instructor, fashion and design instructor, electrical installation – instructor, automotive mechanics instructor, fashion and design.

Dr Asuman Lukwago, the Secretary to the Education Service Commission, reminded those going for the oral interviews not to leave behind their academic papers and national IDs. Dr Lukwago also emphasized the need for applicants to be mindful of their schedules.

“Shortlisted candidates should come along with originals of their employment records plus academic/professional transcripts and certificates and national identity card,” he noted.

“Shortlisted candidates should ensure that they appear as scheduled because requests for rescheduling may not be accepted.”

Dr Lukwago also made it clear that “those whose names do not appear on the shortlist should consider themselves unsuccessful.”

He added: “The dates of oral interviews for those who did competence and aptitude tests will be communicated later.”

The ESC secretary also reminded application to “please note that the services rendered by the Education Service Commission are free of charge.”

It should be remembered that a few years ago, the Education Service Commission, where President Yoweri Museveni’s sister Dr Violet Kajubiri is a member – has previously been accused of selling teaching jobs to unqualified teachers for as low as Shs2m per job. (See Details Here).
