Kyambogo University has released the official list with names of students admitted on Government Sponsorship (national merit) for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.
Kyambogo University said the release of the official list of Government National Merit Admission List for the 2026-2027 Academic Year marks “a significant milestone for students across the country who have successfully earned placement under this prestigious scheme.”
“The list features candidates admitted to a wide range of undergraduate programmes across various faculties, reflecting both academic excellence and national representation. The admissions cover disciplines in Engineering, Science, Business, Education, Agriculture, Technology, and the Arts, among others,” read a statement by academic registrar Dr Annie Begumisa.
“The admission list, approved by the University Admissions Board and prepared by the Academic Registrar, highlights the university’s continued commitment to providing equitable access to quality higher education for deserving students from across Uganda.”
The university’s admission reflects a diverse programmes and national representation. Programs students were admitted to include Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, and Telecommunications), Bachelor of Science programmes (Economics, Environmental Science, Nutrition, Technology), Bachelor of Business Administration and related disciplines, Education programmes across various specializations, as well as vocational and technical programmes supporting practical skills development.
“The selection reflects a broad national spread, with students drawn from districts across the country, reinforcing Kyambogo University’s role as a national institution serving diverse communities,” the academic registrar further said.
The academic registrar advised candidates whose names appear on the Government National Merit List to carefully review the admission details and programme allocated, and follow official communication channels for reporting dates and admission procedures.
“Further guidance on admission procedures, reporting schedules, and orientation will be communicated through the university’s official platforms,” added Dr Begumisa.

Every year, Government of Uganda sponsors about 4,000 students to pursue university education at public universities.
But over 70 per cent of those scholarships have been reserved for science-based courses or academic programs.
Apart from Lira University, other public universities include Makerere University, MUBS, Gulu University, Kyambogo University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Muni University, Busitema University, Kabale University, Soroti University and Mountains of the Moon University.
