Lt Gen Sam Kavuma’s son Jethro Kavuma Tashishana has wedded President Yoweri Museveni’s granddaughter Nsasiirwe Kainembabazi Karugire, fondly referred to as Sasii Kaine.
Nsasiirwe Kainembabazi Karugire aka Sasii Kaine is a daughter to Edwin Karugire and Museveni’s daughter Natasha.
Sasii Kaine’s father-in-law Lt Gen Sam Kavuma (father to Jethro Kavuma Tashishana) has been the Force Commander of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) since 2025.
Edwin Karugire walked Nsasiirwe Kainembabazi Karugire aka Sasii Kaine down the aisle during the wedding ceremony in an elegant church setting on May 02, 2026.
Powerful and influential guests and relatives of the first family were in attendance to witness the weeding of Nsasiirwe Kainembabazi Karugire aka Sasii Kaine and Lt Gen Kavuma’s son in Munyonyo.

The wedding ceremony happened a week after a giveaway ceremony or okuhingira in Runyankore language that happened on April 25, 2026 in Kashari, Western Uganda, where Museveni expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness his grandchild start a family.
“I am grateful to God for blessing me and Maama Janet with a family, and for enabling us to have children even during very challenging times when Uganda was in turmoil,” the president noted.
“I am thankful to have lived to see my children grow up, start their own families, and now I am grateful to God to see my grandchild — Sasii Karugire — getting married.”
