Meet Gerald Malinga, the Spongeman Aspiring to be Uganda’s President in 2026

Spongeman real names Malinga Gerald is among the few Ugandans who is aspiring for President of the republic of Uganda 2026-2031.

Who is Gerald Malinga ‘Spongeman?’

Gerald Malinga is a Ugandan whose journey depicts a typical life of an ordinary Ugandan.

His story is that of a man who has risen from grass to grace.

A few years back, adversity threw him right at the streets of Uganda hawking and selling value added bathing sponges.

He then wrote a few story books, has earned a bachelor’s of science degree Biomedical Laboratory Technology from Makerere University.

He got nominated to contest for Member of Parliament in the 2021 general elections and didn’t make it.

The daring spongeman says he is launching the spongeman revolution:  contesting for President of Uganda.

Malinga says Uganda needs a leader who is transparent and one who cares about the wellbeing of all citizens.

“As Ugandans, we deserve a leader who embodies integrity, transparency, and unwavering commitment to the people. A presidential candidate you can trust is one who listens to your concerns, prioritizes your needs, and works tirelessly to improve livelihoods across every region of our great nation,” he says.

“Together, we can build a future rooted in unity, fairness, and progress—where every Ugandan has a voice and an opportunity to thrive. Trust is not just earned through words, but proven through action, and I pledge to lead with honesty and a vision for a brighter Uganda for all.”

He has pledged better policies aimed at improving lives for all Ugandans involved in all sectors of the economy. Malinga also seeks to crack the whip against corrupt officials.

“Leadership is about serving with purpose and ensuring no one is left behind. As your trusted candidate, I am committed to creating policies that uplift every Ugandan—supporting farmers with better tools and markets, empowering youth with education and jobs, and providing access to quality healthcare for every family,” he further notes.

“Together, we will tackle corruption, strengthen our economy, and ensure security for all. This is not just about promises; it’s about delivering real results for a better Uganda.”
