Authorities in Mukunyu Sub-County in Kasese District are hunting for self-proclaimed rain makers who are allegedly soliciting funds from the community to make it rain.
Sezi Baluku, the Chairperson Local Council Three (LCIII) for Mukunyu Sub-County, told The Pearl Times that unconfirmed reports indicate that the yet to be identified people have taken advantage of the dry spell to con farmers of their money in order to make it rain.
Baluku cautioned the community against believing in myths, calling for vigilance and timely reporting of suspected conmen to police and local authorities for action.
John Kithaghenda Mulewa, the district male councilor representing Mukunyu Sub-County, advised the community to make use of the mini-Irrigation scheme in Mukunyu Sub-County rather than depending on natural factors.
Mulewa also encouraged people to embrace agriculture and business in Mukunyu Sub-County.
