Opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has described news of the death of Catholic Kampala Archdiocese Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga as the ‘most shocking death announcement.’
Archbishop Lwanga passed on April 03 a day after he joined members of the Uganda Joint Christian Council (UJCC) to observe the way of the cross in Kampala.
Besigye says the death of Lwanga was shocking to him.
“Most shocking announcement!
After leading the Uganda Joint Christian Council on the Way of The Cross and celebrating mass yesterday, he retired to join the Lord,” said Besigye.
“Shocking beyond words. Great loss for the country at a very difficult time.
My thoughts are with Catholic Church and all people of faith.”
