Muhammad Ssegirinya Death: Those Who Imprisoned Him and Denied Him Quick Medical Treatment are Now Crying Crocodile Tears

The news, Thursday, January 9, 2025 morning, of Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya has left many Ugandans in shock. Many are reacting to the news of his death.

The first time legislator and former KCCA councilor was pronounced dead at Rubaga Hospital in the morning of Thursday.

Now, activist and university professor Jimmy Spire Ssentongo has called out those who imprisoned Ssegirinya and denied him a chance to get quick life-saving medical treatment.

Prof Ssentongo wonders why such people are typing ‘R.I.P’s. On the list of such hypocrites, the professor and activist has added those who were claiming that Ssegirinya was pretending to be sick.

“Now it will rain RIP, even from those who incarcerated him for years without any clear crime and denied him quick access to treatment when he cried out; plus those that ridiculed him saying he was ‘acting’ as he fought for his life!” wrote Ssentongo.

“His poor mother wept at Parliament, pleading for his bread winner son. But life went on – all she was given was money, not justice.”

Months after they became MPs, Ssegirinya and his colleague Allan Ssewanyana were arrested and detained over allegations relating to Masaka bijambiya killings. (See Details Here and There).

Ssegirinya’s mother cried to Museveni to forgive her son, as well as to Minister Norbert Mao and Parliament of Uganda, as reported Here and There.

Soon, Ssegirinya’s health condition started to raise concern among his family and party, who asked for an opportunity to fly him abroad for better treatment. Once he paraded his wounded foot before court. (See Details Here and There).

Ssentongo says that Ugandans, powerful and the ruled, should realize that we do not have to make others cry, suffer or die in order for us to be happy.

“Such is what it has become; and many more of us may have to die – as we continue to senselessly turn against each other as humans,” he wrote.

“How many more should die before we realise that all we are looking for in this short life is happiness, and that we can still be happy without making another suffer or cry! We shall surely wish Hon. Ssegirinya’s soul to rest in peace, but what peace for such a death!”

Bobi Wine announced the death of Muhammad Ssegirinya, as reported Here.
