MWANA WE, YETWARE! Winnie Byanyima Tells Muhoozi to ‘Go Slow’ On Issues of Her Past Relationship With Museveni

Acting maturely, UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima tells Muhoozi to ‘go slow’ on issues of her past relationship with Museveni, in response to the first son’s statement in which he seemed to add another layer to the past relationship between his father President Yoweri Museveni and Winnie Byanyima, now opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye’s wife.

Irked by veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda’s allusion to the relationship as he debated the incarceration of Dr Besigye on treason charges, Winnie Byanyima came out and spoke about the relationship with Museveni.

Describing it as a “normal” relationship between her and Museveni then, Byanyima added that the relationship had challenges and it that it ended.  (See Details Here).

But Gen Muhoozi came out to accuse Winnie Byanyima of being a home wrecker and one for whom Museveni was left with no option but to throw her out of his house at the end of 1986, months after the youthful president took power. (More on this story is Here).

In response, Winnie Byanyima described as “complex” the relationship between her and Museveni, and added that the two parties had agreed to respect each other and forget that phase of their lives.

“IWE MWANA WE…. Yetwaare. I feel it’s important to be clear: There is a more complex history between your father and I that we have both chosen to move past with mutual respect,” Byanyima wrote.

She then threatened to expose “hard evidence” if the first son keeps spreading what she termed as “a false narrative.”

“However, if you continue to present a false narrative, I may need to provide HARD evidence of the facts,” she noted.

“I prefer to maintain our dignified approach, but that choice remains yours. I consider this matter closed.”
