There was panic in Bushenyi District on Wednesday, August 11 afternoon after a grenade exploded, leaving one person severely injured.
Police in Greater Bushenyi has identified the injured man as Abraham Ruheesi.
It is said that Ruheesi had gone to clear his piece of land where he planned to keep bees in Kyamagambo Cell, Rutooma Ward, Rwentuha Town Council in Bushenyi District.
But in the process, Ruheesi tackled an item that is said to have been a grenade.
Hit, the grenade-like item exploded, alerting neighbors who came to find out what had happened.
The neighbors rushed to the scene and found that Ruheesi had been badly injured by the explosion. He was then rushed to Kampala International University (KIU) Teaching Hospital. The scene was later cordoned off. Local police said two bullets, fragments and a second grenade had ben discovered at the scene.
