Jacob Oulanyah hands over and vacates deputy speaker office ahead of speaker election
Deputy speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has handed over office ahead of his swearing-in ceremony as MP and just days to the crucial May 24 speaker election.
Oulanyah handed over office at Parliament at about 11am on May 19.
He is set to take oath of office as Omoro County MP on May 20.
“Today is my last day as a Member of Parliament according to article 77:3 of the constitution and per article 82:7(d), I cease being DSP [deputy speaker of Parliament],” he said.
“It has been a great experience, one of many lessons and growth an absolute honor to have served.”
