Police starts recruitment of 5,000 personnel; here’s how to apply

Uganda Police Force (UPF) has started on an exercise to recruit 5,000 Probationer Police Constables (PPCs) as a way of improving its capacity, weeks after another batch was passed out.

Starting August 2019, police started on efforts to increase its numbers from about 38,000.

With the population of Uganda at about 40 million people, it means that each police officer is responsible for just over 1,000 people.

The 1:1,000 ratio is higher than the 1:500 recommended by the UN.

Police will now recruit more 5,000 people and the exercise started on September 07.

“Applications are therefore, invited from interested candidates beginning 7th September 2020 till the 19th September 2020, and should be submitted at the respective District/Divisional Police Headquarters,” announced police spokesperson Fred Enanga.

“The applications shall be transferred to Police Headquarters where a shortlist of successful candidates shall be processed and published for interviews at a date that will be released later.”

REQUIREMENTS

  1. A maximum academic qualification of UCE Certificate (O’level) or its equivalent with at least four credits including English and at least a pass in Mathematics.
  2. Those who possess qualifications above UCE should NOT
  3. Be a Ugandan Citizen Valid National ID (NIN)
  4. Have no criminal record
  5. Be ready to undertake the requisite twelve months Police Basic Training Course.
  6. Be physically fit
  7. Ready to work long hours and at times under difficult conditions.
  8. Be ready to work in any part of the country.
  9. Possess good communication skills
  10. Must not be a former serving officers in any of the Forces.

HOW TO APPLY

Address your hand written applications to the IGP

Attach the following:

  • Certified copies of Academic documents
  • Photocopy of the National ID
  • Photocopy of the ID of the previous schools attended.
  • 3 recent Passport size photographs
  • Recommendation letters from LCI, LCII, LCIII and RDC (from the respective districts of recruitment).

Deliver these in a file folder to the Police District/Divisional Headquarters
