National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has outlined four reasons why his supporters should engage in non-violent ‘public court’ protests.
The announcement came days after the Supreme Court officially allowed him to withdraw his presidential election petition.
Bobi Wine had alleged bias on the side of the judges.
Justification, demands and agenda
He said he would take his petition to the public court.
Today, he has announced the start of countrywide demonstrations.
“As we promised when we withdrew the Election Petition from the Supreme Court, we are bringing this matter to the People of Uganda!” said Bobi Wine.
“As always, the regime is desperately trying to claim that we are planning violent protests. NO. We are calling upon all of you citizens of good will to demonstrate peacefully and unarmed, a right guaranteed by Article 29 of the Constitution.”
