The Uganda Police Force (UPF) officer that sprayed a deadly chemical into the eyes of main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) has been identified as Abraham Asiimwe.
Amuriat was December 28 rushed to Fastline Medical Center Bugiri in critical condition after Asiimwe splashed the chemical believed to contain pepper and other substances into the presidential candidate’s eyes.
Perhaps the poster child of the Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni administration’s electoral violence ahead of the January 14 poll – despite the mainstream media injustice against the FDC candidate – Amuriat had also been roughly arrested by police as he left Kamuli for Jinja December 27.
Police would later dump him near a swamp after hours of detention.
Now, Amuriat is on a hospital bed in Bugiri.
His FDC party says he is in critical condition.
