A student in the Western Ugandan district of Bushenyi who had gone out to have fun did not return: his body was found lying lifeless. What really happened to him?
Police in Bushenyi District say they are investigating the circumstances under Vincent Kaweesi, a student at Uganda Technical College Bushenyi, was killed sometime between the night of March 18 and March 19, 2025.
Kaweesi, 25, is said to have moved out of UTC Bushenyi (the college is better known by locals as Kahaya) to have fun on the night of March 18, preliminary investigations into his death indicate.
But Kaweesi did not return home. His body was found lying in Kahaya Village, Rwentuha Town Council, Bushenyi District on the roadside along the Bushenyi-Mbarara Highway.
It were the locals who alerted police after finding the lifeless body of a young man by the roadside.
Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime said Kaweesi’s body was discovered at around 7:30 AM on March 19, 2025.
Tumusiime further noted that Kaweesi’s body was lying on the chest and that blood had oozed from his mouth and nose.
Police transported the body to Kampala International Teaching Hospital in Ishaka Town for a postmortem examination.
Tumusiime went on to note that that his neck appeared to have suffered strangulation but said police investigations will result in a conclusive report on the cause of death.
