Two intern doctors attached to Kitovu Hospital drowned in Lake Victoria on December 08 evening.
The deceased have been identified as Ahmed Abdullah and Emma Kidambire.
Kidambire was a student of Medicine and Surgery at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (Must).
He was also the head of interns at Kitovu Hospital.
Kidambire and Abdullah had gone swimming at Nabugabo Sand Beach.
Abdullah had drowned trying to save Kidambire who had attempted to raft, at Abdullah’s insistence.
Those who had tried to save the intern doctors had failed, and the duo’s life jackets floated minutes later.
And just like that, Kidambire’s dream of becoming the first doctor in his family ended – and so did Abdullah’s of returning to Somalia to rebuild his country.
