First lady, also education and sports minister Janet Museveni, has presented proposals on school reopening to her husband President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
Minister Janet Museveni presented the proposals during a meeting that was attended by officials from Ministry of Education and Sports as well as those from the Ministry of Health.
Also present in September 07 meeting at State House Entebbe were members of the National Covid19 Taskforce.
According to education ministry spokesperson Dr Dennis Mugimba, it was president Museveni who summoned officials from these two ministries (education and health) as well as the National Covid19 Taskforce.
Mugimba has also revealed that there was another meeting on Sunday, September 05.
The Sunday meeting happened between the ministries of Education and Sports and that of Health.
“So, today we had a meeting. His Excellency called the meeting between the Ministry of Education and the National Covid19 Taskforce to chart a way forward on the reopening of education institutions and this followed the preparatory meeting between the National Covid19 Taskforce and the Ministry of Education on Sunday,” said Dr Mugimba.
“The Ministry updated the President on what has been done during this lockdown period for continuity of learning, and the Minister of Education also presented proposals she had on reopening and continuity of learning.”
