Shocking Details Emerge on Ugandan State Prosecutor Who Was Found Dead Days After She Went Missing

Ugandan prosecutor Fatuma Nabiwemba Ssendagire was found dead in her house days after she went missing.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has confirmed Nabiwemba’s death. The ODPP hailed Fatuma Nabiwemba, an assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, as a dedicated attorney.

“It is with deep sorrow that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) announces the passing of Ms. Fatumah Nabiwemba, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions,” the office said in a statement.

“She served as a Prosecutor in the ODPP for 22 years in various capacities. Her dedicated service to criminal justice will always be remembered and appreciated.”

Fatuma Nabiwemba Ssendagire was aged 47. Her lifeless body was found in her house in  Wampeewo, Kasangati Town Council in Wakiso District. She was said to be living alone by the time of her death.

Available reports indicate that Fatuma Nabiwemba Ssendagire had been missing since Monday, July 7, 2025.

When a driver at the ODPP informed police about the death of the state prosecutor, it carried away the body to Mulago mortuary for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire was quoted as saying that Fatuma Nabiwemba’s “body had no physical injuries.”

Owoyesigyire added that police detectives had picked some items that could carry some trails of evidence from the scene.

Some reports suggested that police had picked a letter from Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital from the deceased prosecutor’s house.

Nabiwemba’s death has revived a December 2017 report of her missing from her home. Nabiwemba was found after two months.

In an interview with Daily Monitor in January 2018, Nabiwemba’s husband Dr Ibrahim Ssendagire had suffered mental health issues after the loss of their baby who had been about two months and a half.

“My wife was not able to come to terms with the death of our baby. The post-natal depression could have been escalated when I did not ask my wife what caused the death of my child since it died when I was out of the country. I didn’t even see the baby itself ,” Dr Ssendagire told Daily Monitor’s Anthony Wesaka in 2018.

According to the ODPP, Nabiwemba’s burial is scheduled to take place on Saturday July 12, 2025, at 2:00pm, in Kammengo Village, Kyotera District.
