Now, a video from a 2017 NTV Fourth Estate show carrying allegations that Mao received Shs5m from then internal affairs minister Aronda Nyakairima to facilitate his transport to a venue to meet Museveni.
According to the claims made by former Daily Monitor reporter and now lawyer Ivan Okuda, Mao had called Nyakairima informing him of his intention to cross over to the NRM.

Okuda, currently an associate at Anguria & Co. Advocates, has since revealed that Mao dismissed this allegation, prompting him to apologize to him.
