SWIMMING POOL INCIDENT: Fresh Details Emerge on Death of Seeta High Student as School Defends Itself

Seeta High School has given its side of the story in the death, by drowning, of its student. The Senior Six student drowned in the Seeta High School swimming pool.

The swimming pool drowning incident happened in the evening of Sunday, August 03, 2025.

The deceased has been identified as Kevin Nsamba. He was aged 21.

Seeta High Schools principal Davis Kafumbe said the incident happened “while our Senior Six students were returning from an exciting football match, a number of them, without authorization and outside the school’s swimming guidelines, ran towards and jumped into the school swimming pool.”

“Sadly, the victim, who did not know how to swim, was among them,” added Kafumbe.

The principal further claimed that the administrators were unaware of Nsamba’s drowning and would not know about it until a rollcall was done.

“Regrettably, the school administration was unaware of this incident at the time. It was only during a roll call that one male student was discovered to be missing,” he said in a statement.

Seeta High School would then alert police and Nsamba’s parents that he was missing.

“The Administration and school security immediately launched a search and notified the police for reinforcement. A broader joint search was then conducted in the presence of the student’s parents,” continued Kafumbe.

“Tragically, it was discovered that the student had drowned in the swimming pool. The police later recovered the body.”

The principal said the Seeta High Community was saddened by the student’s passing.

“This heartbreaking incident has left the entire Seeta High School community in deep sorrow. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the parents, family, friends, and fellow students during this difficult time,” he wrote.

“We mourn this great loss and pray that his soul may rest in eternal peace.”

Kevin Nsamaba’s death follows another tragic incident in which Elishama Ssesaazi, a 16-year-old Senior Three student at Seeta High School main campus, lost his life.

Seeta High Schools are owned by John Chrysostom Muyingo, the Ugandan State Minister for Higher Education.

Relatedly, police has issued strict guidelines for school trips after two pupils were killed in an accident after the driver reportedly slept off as learners returned from a trip in Kasese. (See Details Here and There).
