THEY WANT TO KILL ME: Speaker Anita Among Claims Assassination Plot Against Her Life

Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Uganda’s 11th Parliament, has claimed that there is a plot to assassinate her. 

Among, the Bukedea District Woman MP who replaced the late Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah as Speaker of Parliament, left fellow legislators in shock when she made this revelation.

Earlier, Katikamu South MP Hassan Kirumira of Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform had complained of cases of abductions, arrests and assassinations in the country. 

Speaker Among directed the Prime Minister to investigate and present a report to Parliament on circumstances under which some Ugandans are being abducted, arrested and others assassinated. 

Among also told her colleagues in the House that she had received a report, probably from intelligence, that there was a plan to assassinate her.

The Speaker also claimed that there were some bad elements that were trailing her with the mission of allegedly ending her life on earth.

Among said she had informed Mathias Mpuuga, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (Nyendo Mukungwe MP – NUP), about the assassination attempt report.

“And I want to tell you this Honorable members: I have got a report, I have only shared this with Leader of Opposition, I can officially tell you. I have got an assassination report [of a plot by some people] wanting to assassinate me,” she alleged.

“Yes, there is a report on an attempt to assassinate me, up to now I am still being followed.”

Fresh from a trip to the Vatican where she met the Pope, Among, the head of the legislative arm of government, then went ahead to tell off those who want her dead that she had God on her side and that she would be the boss at Parliament until she has become tired of serving Ugandans.

“Whoever wants to assassinate Anita, let me inform you that I was put in this chair by God and I will serve until I get tired,” she said. 

It should be remembered that there were allegations that Among’s predecessor Jacob Oulanyah could have been poisoned. His father even made the claim during his son’s burial. (Read Story Here).

Some MPs also claimed that they had stopped eating from the Parliamentary Canteen because of fearing to be poisoned. (Read Story Here).
