TIT FOR TAT! Muhoozi Now Threatens Sanctions against US Officials

Uganda’s military chief and first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has threatened sanctions against US officials in retaliation to sanctions from Washington.

Gen Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), argues that while African countries are aware of human rights violations committed by the US or its officials, they are yet to sanction them.

He used the example of Patrice Lumumba’s assassination to drive his point home.

Congolese politicians, their Belgian advisors and suspected CIA operatives have all been suspected to have taken part or aided in the assassination of Lumumba.

A Congolese politician and independence leader, Lumumba was the first prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He served from June until September 1960.

“Africa has never sanctioned the US officials who were involved in the cold blooded brutal assassinations of our leaders like Patrice Lumumba,” wrote Muhoozi.

“If they continue sanctioning Africans, we will sanction them too.”

As The Pearl Times recently reported, the US has sanctioned Ugandan police officers. (See Details Here).

Following the latest sanctions, Gen Muhoozi accused US Ambassador to Uganda William W. Popp of disrespecting President Yoweri Museveni, and of undermining the constitution. Muhoozi demanded that US Ambassador Popp apologizes or leaves Uganda by 9AM on October 07, 2024.

But Popp has neither apologized nor left Uganda. (Read Stories Here, There and Over There).
