Police in Kasese have arrested two individuals on charges of impersonating senior government officials.
The suspects include Isaac Kamalha, 50, a resident of Railway Ward of Central Division in Kasese Municipality. Police withheld the names of the second suspect.
But Rwenzori East police Community Liaisons Officer (CLO) SP Luka Mbusa, who confirmed the arrest, told The Pearl Times that the second suspect was aged 30.
The suspects allegedly posed as the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) and Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kasese.
It alleged that on Friday January 3, 2025, Kamalha attended a workshop organized by Great Lakes Peace Centre and signed in the names of Central Divison GISO Enid Ninsiima.
This raised concerns from participants and event organizers who reported to authorities for scrutiny. According to Central Division GISO Enid Ninsiima, Kamalha had been attending meetings and workshops under false pretense.
This is not his first offense as he was arrested and forgiven for a similar incident last year, added Ninsiima.
She attributed the rise in impersonation cases to unemployment, urging individuals to engage in gainful work and avoid such behavior.
According to SP Mbusa, the suspects are being held at central police pending for further investigation. Please
