Uneb Clears Air on PLE 2024 Results Release Date

Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has cleared the air on PLE 2024 results release date.

Administered in November 2024, the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) marked the end of primary level education for nearly 800,000 candidates.

According to Uneb data, a total of 798,763 candidates wrote their papers – English, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies. This PLE 2024 candidature comprised 419,357 females and 379,414 males.

These hundreds of thousands of primary school leavers have been waiting for Uganda National Examinations Board to release the results from the papers they sat.

Some weeks after they sat the examinations, Uneb examiners embarked on the process of marking the papers. The release date is normally around January.

The dates vary, depending on circumstances such as availability of the top official (normally a minister) who are supposed to preside over the release ceremony.

Some people had begun claiming that Uneb had set Friday, January 17, 2025, as the PLE 2024 results release date, and that Education and Sports Minister Janet Museveni would preside over the release ceremony at State House.

But Uneb has spoken out on the reports of January 17 being the PLE 2024 results release date. The Uganda National Examinations Board says it was yet to confirm the date on which to release 2024 PLE results.

It has advised parents, teachers (schools) and candidates to wait for communication on the official release date.

“Our attention has been drawn to a  fake message circulating on social media that the 2024 PLE results will be released on Friday 17th January, 2025,” Uneb said.

“Kindly ignore and disregard it.  An official date for the release will be communicated at the right time.”
