Uneb Speaks Out on UCE 2024 Results Release Date

Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has spoken out on UCE 2024 results release date. Following the release of PLE 2024 results last month, it had been expected that Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) 2024 results would be released a few weeks thereafter. 

Last year, a total of 379,620 candidates registered to sit end of O-level (senior Four – S4) exams. This figure included 369,477 who registered for the New Lower Secondary Curriculum (NLSC) and 10,143 for the UCE transitional examinations.

Following the release of PLE 2024 results, some people had begun speculating that the UCE 2024 results would be released sometimes this week.

The result confusion for candidates, parents and teachers at the various schools or Uneb examination centres who had not seen any formal communication for the release of UCE 2024 results.

This made Uneb to come out and explain the status of UCE 2024 results release date. Some had even gone ahead to claim that UCE 2024 results would be released on Friday, February 07, 2025.

But Uneb spokesperson Jennifer Kalule-Musamba has refuted this, saying no release date has been confirmed.

“The public is hereby informed that the 2024 UCE results shall NOT be released on Friday February 7th, as alleged on some platforms,” said Kalule.

“The release date for the results of the first cohort of the New Lower Secondary Curriculum and the last cohort of the Old Curriculum/ Transitional candidates shall be communicated officially as soon as it is confirmed.”

What is confirmed is that the examinations papers have already been marked and graded. In other words, UCE 2024 results are ready.

Although some reports have been suggesting that the UCE 2024 results could be released sometime next week, Uneb has urged all stakeholders to wait for its official confirmation. 

It should be remembered that Uneb had some challenges with examiners of a few subjects who refused to mark and stormed out of marking centres. The examinations board had earlier reduced the number of teachers it hired as examiners by up to 5,000, compared to the previous years. (See Details Here and There).

Normally, Uneb announces the official UCE results release dates after briefing the Minister of Education and Sports, currently First Lady Janet Museveni, on the performance.

The first lady is also normally the chief guest at the results release ceremonies, normally held at State House, under Janet Museveni’s tenure as Education Minister.
