The former central Bank of Uganda (BoU) governor Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Omuruhita on the Kabale-Kisoro Road in Kabale on January 30.
Mutebile was honored with a gun salute as mourners sent off a man who has been at the held of the country’s central bank for the past two decades.
Mutebile died in Nairobi over a week ago. (Read story here, and a related one there).

Before Mutebile was finally laid to rest, a requiem service was held at Kigezi High School Primary playground.
Mourners from the local community as well as national and regional leaders attended the service led by Bishop George Bagamuhunda of the Anglican Diocese of Kigezi.
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda sent economist Donald Kaberuka as his representative at the burial. President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni was represented by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja. Museveni hailed Mutebile for his role in reviving the Ugandan economy.
Officials of the Uganda Police Force (UPF) gave Mutebile a gun salute in honor of his dedication and service to his country.
