VIDEO: Mao Speaks in Tongues, Finally Admits He Has No Evidence that Besigye Held Secret Talks with Museveni

Democratic Party (DP) President General Norbert Mao says he has no evidence that opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye held secret talks with President Yoweri Museveni. 

Days ago, Mao shocked Ugandans when he claimed Besigye had held secret talks with Museveni. (Read Story Here).

Besigye quickly fired back at Mao, rubbishing his claims and suggesting that the DP leader was desperate. (Read Story Here).

Now, in another recent TV appearance, Mao said his claims were based on hearsay.

“As  a lawyer, I believe in evidence, I gave my sources when I said I was told, you can call it hearsay, and I gave my sources: one, I discussed that with Mr Conrad Nkutu [formerly of Daily Monitor and New Vision], I discussed it with Andrew Mwenda; I even discussed it with President Museveni. I asked him. I have given my source. I even have been told that there were some documents that were signed,” ,” narrated Mao when Adam Kungu hosted him on Baba TV.

The DP leader laboured to explain that he meant ‘secret talks’ and not ‘secret meetings.”

“I do not, however, want to make it appear like I said they met. You can actually have talks without meeting — for instance we say that President Museveni and Kony had talks, to the best of my knowledge they never met.

But Mao also seemed to have some doubts about his sources.

“I definitely stand by what I said and if the sources disown me, then I will never trust what they say again,” he said.

It remains to be seen if Mao will soon apologize to Besigye for ‘lies’ that the opposition leader held secret talks with Museveni.
