Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) has told off National Unity Platform (NUP) and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine for refusing to join Dr Kizza Besigye’s People’s Front for Transition (PFT) Red Card Twetaase initiative.
PFT, a pressure group comprising six opposition parties, unveiled Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate, as their national chairman.
But NUP, which holds the majority on the opposition side in Parliament, didn’t join the pressure group.
NUP supporters have been criticizing Besigye and PFT over the formation of the new pressure group which they say is an affront on Bobi Wine and his people power movement.
But Amuriat, a 2021 presidential candidate, has told NUP the FDC doesn’t need its permission to oppose President Yoweri Museveni.
“Leading Opposition in Parliament doesn’t have to lead any struggle against a dictator if they don’t wish, are not prepared or have no capacity to. Mandela led the struggle against Apartheid SA from outside parliament,” said Amuriat.
“FDC don’t need anybody’s permission to struggle.”
