VIDEO: Shock as Lord Mayor Lukwago Survives Being Punched & Thrown Out of Studio by Angry Government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo on Live TV
NBS TV has issued an apology to its viewers for prematurely ending Thursday, July 28 night’s show after government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo nearly thumped Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
Next Media Services Head of Corporate Affairs Desire Derekford Mugumisa said the station was investigation the incident.
On behalf of the Naguru-based television station, Mugumisa also apologized to the viewers for the unfortunate incident.
“We condemn the unfortunate incident that transpired on Thursday, July 28, 2022’s edition of ‘Frontline, our weekly political talk show — the incident violates our Editorial Policy and the Minimum Broadcasting Standards,” he said in a statement issued many hours after the incident.
“We once again apologize to our esteemed viewers for having had to experience that content and ending the show prematurely. Our teams are further investigating the matter, and we shall take action to find an amicable resolution from the findings.”
Meanwhile, Lukwago has reported the matter to Kira Road Police station where he recorded a statement on July 29.
It should be remembered that Ofwono Opondo threatened to throw Lukwago out of the studio as he rose from his seat and moved to punch the Kampala Lord Mayor. (Read Story and Watch Video Here).
