Raila Odinga, Museveni and William Ruto
Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has given his response on which candidate he will support in the August 09, 2022 Kenyan presidential election.
A number of politicians have expressed interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, whose second and last term of office expires this year.
Kenyatta’s deputy William Ruto of UDA and Kenya Kwanza Alliance and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga of ODM and Azimio La Umoja Coalition.
The two leading politicians have previously held meetings with President Museveni, including attending his campaigns.
Many political observers have been wondering who Museveni will give his support.
Now, in his meeting with outgoing Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo at State House Entebbe on February 08, Museveni sought to answer this question.
Museveni, whose current term will end in 2026, said he would be willing to work with the duly elected president of Kenya.
“Uganda’s cordial relationship with Kenya remains our priority irrespective of who the Kenyans vote for President in their upcoming elections,” said Museveni.
“We shall work with whoever is elected by the people.”
