The Assistant Resident City Commissioner (A-RCC) of Lira City, Karim Mwase, has been killed and his body and vehicle dumped on the roadside.
The body of Assistant RCC Mwase was dumped along Iganga-Bugiri highway. The incident is said to have on the night of Sunday, May 11, 2025.
It is said that Mwase had attended a meeting called by Iganga RDC Sadala Wandera who had invited his colleague RDCs, deputy RDCs and assistant RDCs.
Wandera is said to have invited his colleagues to inform them that he intended to run for the Bugweri MP seat, and to seek their support in his electoral battle.
But reports suggest that the meeting ended prematurely after Wandera reportedly collapsed and was taken to Imperial Hospital.
At this point, his guests went to Sanah Hotel for dinner. Later, Mwase’s vehicle registration number UBH 449L – which is said to have been borrowed from the assistant RDC for Bugweri – was found in Bukaboli village, Nakalama Parish, Nakalama Sub County in Iganga District, according to Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson Michael Kafayo.
Police responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle. They towed it to Iganga Central Police Station.
Shortly after, police discovered Mwase’s body some meters away from where the vehicle he had been driving had been abandoned.
Kafayo noted that Mwase’s body had “visible injuries on his face, and b10od was 00zing from his mouth and nose.”
Police transferred the body of Assistant RDC Mwase to Iganga Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
A police dog brought to help track the suspected killers could not keep with the trail of suspects after about a kilometer making the investigation into the matter more complicated.
Investigators are yet to establish the motive behind the killing.
