Chameleone: Lukwago is always complaining, he’s failed to fix city drainage

Uganda’s Afro-beat artist and Kampala mayoral aspirant, Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone has criticized Erias Lukwago for not fixing and improving the drainage systems in the city.

Chameloene’s remarks came after police on September 11, recovered two bodies along Nakivubo Channel at Clock Tower, after a heavy downpour in the afternoon.

While addressing the media at his office in Kampala, Chameleone said Lukwago is only good at complaining instead of delivering services to the people of Kampala.

“There is no any country where you will go and find the local government doesn’t work with government.”

“Lukwago has failed to work with government and that’s the reason why services have not come down to the people,” Mayanja said.

His focus will be put on improving and fixing the drainage system in the city if the people of Kampala vote for him in 2021.

Chameleone said that floods have found it easy to disturb the city because of the poor drainage system. He challenged Lukwago to put his record of work on table so that people can appreciate his achievements.

“Since [John] Ssebaana built the Nakivubo Channel, there has not been a major improvement on the channel’s coverage and this is part of the main problem,” he added.

In his response, Lukwago said that Kampala people know what I have done for them for the period he has been in the office.

On the same event, Chameleone also unveiled his task force which will be led by Samuel Mukaaku Lubega as the chairman.

He promised to pick the nomination papers on September 13, from the Electorel commission. He promised to meet and interact with his fellow artists on the same day.

Chameleone is contesting for the Kampala mayoral seat under the National Unity Platform (NUP) and he will be contesting with the incumbent Erias Lukwago (FDC), Dan Kazibwe [Ragga Dee] of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
