Four people were killed on Kasese on Christmas Day, authorities have confirmed.
According to the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (D-RDC) in charge of Bukonzo county Lt. Matte Magwara, two people died in a fatal accident along the Kasese-Fort Portal highway.
The other two deaths resulted from bar fights fueled by alcoholism and drug abuse.
In response to the incidents, Lt. Magwara warned boda-boda and taxi drivers against reckless driving as the New Year approaches.
The chairperson Rwenzori United Boda-Boda Riders, Sanyeri Thembo, also reported minor cases of boda-boda theft and accidents on Christmas Day.
He cautioned riders against driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and advised them to prioritize their safety and security.
“I want to ask boda-boda riders and taxi drivers to avoid alcoholism and drugs while driving on roads,” stated Thembo.
