An unknown number of people is trapped under the rubble of a four-storeyed building which collapsed in Kampala’s Makindye Division.
The incident happened in Makindye’s Kifampa Zone at about 9pm.
The building, which was still under construction, is situated behind Calendar Rest House.
Police had rushed to area after receiving distress calls from members of the public in the area.
“A number of people are trapped under the rubble but rescue efforts are underway by a joint team of Police Fire and Rescue services and KCCA,” read a short statement released by police.
Those trapped are said to be construction workers who were residing in the building.
The workers had reportedly gathered for supper in one of the building’s unfinished rooms.
The incident happened almost four months since another one under construction in Kansanga collapsed, killing over 10 people.
