Ugandan military chief and first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has told Turkey to hand over Fred Kajubi Kumbuye, failure of which he will chase the Ankara’s Ambassador to Kampala.
A controversial Ugandan political blogger aligned to the opposition, Lumbuye finds himself at the centre of Muhoozi’s current diplomatic clash with Turkey. Resident Turkey’s Istanbul, Lumbuye won a court case to avoid his deportation back to Uganda.
Recently, Muhoozi made a series of controversial statements on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter, on the relations between Turkey and Uganda.
The posts included demands for financial compensation and some personal benefits.
“On top of the $1 billion from Turkey, I want the most beautiful woman in that country for a wife!” wrote Muhoozi. “For Turkey it’s a really simple deal… Either they pay us or I close their embassy here. They can reciprocate and shut our embassy in Turkey as well.”
He added: “The real problem is Turkey! We have waited for them to rehabilitate themselves, but wapi! We are going to end ALL diplomatic relations with Turkey in the next 30 days if they do not address our issues!”
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Muhoozi claimed: “The best thing about Turkey is their beautiful women who surrendered to me before I beat their men up. I have already married 5 Turkish women. It was an easy job. The next time they threaten me and Uganda again we shall fight proper.”
He also explained his reasons for online attacks against Turkey. “My recent fight with Turkey was not about Turkey. Of course, I heard that our Bachwezi empire extended to the Mediterranean in stories from old people,” he wrote. “My focus is on Somalia, our true brothers. From now and forever more Uganda’s vote will be respected in Somalia!”
Muhoozi accuses Turkey of benefiting from infrastructure in Somalia while Uganda bears the costs securing the horn of Africa nation. The $1bn that Muhoozi is demanding from Turkey is a “security dividend.”
Now, Muhoozi wants Turkey to release Lumbuye, a fierce critic of the Ugandan government. If Ankara does not release Lumbuye, Muhoozi has warned, Kampala will chase the Turkish Ambassador.
“I’m going to finish with Turkey soon…they must produce Lumbuye to us soon. Or else I will expel their extremely USELESS Ambassador!” he wrote.
Muhoozi has previously threatened to expel the ambassadors of the US, Germany and the EU for reportedly disrespecting his father and for backing the opposition to allegedly remove the current government. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
Lumbuye was years ago in the news over his pending deportation, with the Museveni state interested in his return. He was on the spot for spreading false news of top government officials, including claims of deaths and sickness, for people like Museveni’s brother Gen Salim Saleh, and the Kabaka.
