Internal Security Organization (ISO) Director General Brig Gen Charles Oluka is dead. Brig Gen Oluka was pronounced dead on January 29, 2025.
“He died at Seguku hospital where he was rushed this evening,” said deputy presidential press secretary Faruk Kirunda.
Ugandans have been reacting to the news of Brig Gen Charles Oluka’s death. Former minister and ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairman for eastern Uganda, Capt Mike Mukula, praised Oluka for having been humble yet courageous.
“Deeply saddened by the news of the tragic and devastating demise of our beloved comrade Brigadier General [Charles Oluka] (RIP), the Director General ISO. A true epitome of humility and courage,” wrote Capt Mukula.
“A great patriot and nationalist. I mourn his loss with his family and our gallant UPDF.”
“Rest in peace, Afande Oluka. Your leadership transformed the Internal Security Organisation, restoring its reputation and credibility after a challenging period. Your legacy will be remembered . Condolences to mzee President , family members, friends and the people of Uganda,” wrote Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, the minister of state for youth and children’s affairs.
