Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga says she hopes to meet Buganda Kingdom prime minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga for details on Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s sickness.
The Kabaka appeared for his 66th birthday celebration sick and frail on April 13, sparking debate on his health condition.
Katikkiro Mayiga would later explain that the king suffers from allergies.
Kabaka was not poisoned, says Katikkiro Mayiga
But the premier’s statement on the Kabaka’s health was not convincing to some people, including a section of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) councillors.
About 40 councillors belonging to the National Unity Platform (NUP) visited Kadaga at Parliament on April 19.
Team leader Councillor-elect Jeremiah Keeya Mwanje blamed government of giving a deaf ear to the king’s subjects who are demanding answers regarding his health.
In response, Kadaga emphasized that Parliament didn’t want to interfere in the affairs of cultural institutions.
But she revealed her plan to meet Katikkiro Mayiga for a detailed explanation on the Kabaka’s health.
